Growing up I was always interested in art, and the aesthetics of beauty in all manner. As a young girl, I would draw the cartoons, comic books and read art books at school. During my early school years, I focused on crafts because these were most often offered in classroom settings and after-school projects.  As well, I've grown up with a deep appreciation for nature. My grandmother would always comment on how I was so at ease in the natural world. I would sit outside for hours, daydreaming and making things.

I am an artist, writer, and blogger. My art and writing are both a labor of love. In my articles, I share fine art tips, demonstrations, travel articles and news from my studio. For nearly ten years, I have lived in beautiful Pawleys Island, S.C.  While I am a native Southerner, I have lived in many places in the United States and Europe. Traveling, meeting new people and seeing new places has had a profound effect on my life and art.

In my quest for a traditional or classical art education, I consider myself primarily self-taught. I attended college with the goal of majoring in art. At that time, classes for a more traditional or classical approach to drawing and painting were not offered. However, all education is a good thing, and I completed a degree in Political Science. Along the way, I studied architecture and interior design.

Broadly, all my studies and travels have all contributed to my understanding of various aspects of art. Within the past few years, I have studied with  Robert Liberace, Olena Babak, Mark Carder, Chris Saper, Marc Dalessio and Jim Calk.

My Paintings:
I paint portraits, still life, and landscape paintings. I work primarily in conte, charcoal, pastels, and oil. My portraits are inspired by Phillip De Laszlo and Emile Munier to name a few. My still life arrangements usually include natural objects, flowers, glass, and brass, as inspired by the old masters. The inspiration for my landscape paintings come from Emilio Sanchez Perrier and Willard Metcalf.
